What is Ecodeism?
Ecodeism is based on the simple fact that everything that you do affects either the planet (our ecosystem) and / or the people with whom we share this planet. The question is whether, with each interaction, you will make an effort to affect this planet and the other people on it in a positive or negative way. You can do good things and make this world a better place to live. You can ignore the consequences of your actions, or you can chose to do evil. Evil in this context has nothing to do with hell, or the devil. The choice with each action you take is your own, and the responsibility is your own.

An Ecodeist strives to make himself or herself a better person, to be at peace with himself or herself and to make this planet and the people on it better each day.

Ecodeism is for the person looking for a belief set – a religion – which focuses on personal responsibility, and reason. A belief system that is centered on each individual’s responsibility for the ecology and the others around us. In humanity’s infancy we looked to the stars, to gods, to guide and protect us. It is time humanity reaches its adolescence. It is time for people to focus on a discernable source of real power. This planet and the people on it.
Ecodeism comes from two words: ecology and deism. Ecology is, in simple terms, the study of the environment and people’s effect on the environment. Deism is essentially the belief that once the universe was created, the world was on its own. An Ecodeist may believe that the universe began as an objective scientifically definable event, or as the result of a higher being, but an Ecodeist doesn’t rely on a God or Gods to manipulate or guide events today. An Ecodeist believes that the only “eternal life” comes from the memories and feelings of those we touch while we are alive.
